Give Your Holiday Welcome a Story That Carries Through the Room
Tuacahn’s upcoming Holiday Inn is a prompt for an original design idea: a welcoming entrance, a gathering space and a practical plan to build them.

Borrow a Feeling, Create Your Own Setting
Tuacahn is preparing Holiday Inn for its indoor Hafen Theatre, with the current show page listing November 20–December 22, 2026. Credit belongs to Tuacahn and the production’s creators. We are not describing their scenery or recreating a stage design; the occasion simply prompts a lovely question for a home, restaurant or hotel: what story should your holiday welcome tell?
For an original concept, we would begin with a quiet winter gathering rather than a room full of unrelated decorations. Think evergreen, cream and a restrained burgundy ribbon, with warm metal accents repeated in a few places. The entrance introduces the palette; a tree or garland carries it toward the main gathering space.
Draw the Room Before Filling It
The first sketch should show where people enter, pause, sit and move onward. A hotel needs a useful reception desk. A restaurant needs a clear host station and working service routes. At home, a favorite chair or family gathering area should still feel easy to use. The focal point belongs where the room can support it.
From that sketch, develop a material list and discuss what can be reused. Choose greenery, ornament scale and ribbon width together, then prepare related pieces before installation. A sample section can help settle the color and density without committing the whole room too soon. The practical work behind the look is part of the design, not an afterthought.
Plan the Change Before Installation Day
Ask what happens if a planned piece is unavailable or the venue needs the space arranged differently. Agree on alternatives and who can approve them. If part of the welcome extends outdoors, discuss an indoor version and the venue’s weather decision process before anything is installed. Decorative planning should support the venue’s responsibilities.
Amy Surena Designs can help develop a whole-space plan, from the first conversation and sourcing choices to preparation and the agreed installation scope. A tree, doorway and lobby arrangement can feel related without every surface competing for attention. Bring photos, dates and the way your space is used; Amy can help turn that starting point into a design conversation.
